Description

Blackbutt Benchtops – Premium Australian Hardwood Benchtops

620mm wide | 32mm thick

Elevate your interiors with the natural beauty and strength of our kiln-dried Blackbutt timber benchtops. Sourced from premium Australian hardwood, Blackbutt is highly regarded for its durability, stability, and warm natural tones ranging from creamy golds through to soft and deeper browns.

As a genuine Australian hardwood, Blackbutt naturally displays organic features formed during the tree’s growth. These characteristics—including knots, gum veins, pinholes, and occasional surface checking—are part of the timber’s authentic appearance and contribute to its individual character.

Each benchtop is manufactured using single, continuous-length timbers (not finger-jointed shorts), delivering a strong, seamless laminated panel. Benchtops are precision-machined and sanded to a 120-grit finish, ready for sealing or final finishing.

Ideal for kitchens, islands, vanities, laundry benchtops, furniture, and custom joinery, Blackbutt offers a balance of performance, longevity, and natural visual appeal suited to both modern and traditional interiors.

  • Face checking or surface splits

  • Colour variation between laminations

These features are natural characteristics of Australian hardwood and are not considered defects.

In some instances, epoxy resin filling may be required during finishing—particularly for feature-grade aesthetics—to achieve a smooth, sealed benchtop surface.

Product Overview

Our Blackbutt timber benchtops are manufactured from premium Australian hardwood and kiln dried for improved stability and performance. At 32mm thick and 620mm wide, these benchtops provide a solid, durable surface suitable for a wide range of residential and commercial applications.

Blackbutt is well known for its strength, reliability, and warm natural colour tones. Each benchtop is laminated from continuous-length boards (not finger-jointed shorts) and supplied sanded to a 120-grit finish, ready for sealing or final finishing.

Designed for customers seeking genuine Australian hardwood, these benchtops combine long-term durability with the natural character that makes real timber unique.

Design & Appearance

Blackbutt features a clean, attractive grain structure with colour tones ranging from pale blonde through to honey and soft brown hues.

As a natural hardwood, variation between boards is expected and forms part of the timber’s appeal. Occasional natural features such as knots, gum veins, pinholes, and surface checking may be present and contribute to the organic look of the benchtop.

Feature & Better grade material offers a balance between visual cleanliness and natural timber character, making it suitable for both modern and traditional interiors.

No two benchtops are the same — each piece reflects the individuality of the timber it is made from.

Natural Timber & Installation Disclaimer

Blackbutt is a natural Australian hardwood. As such, all benchtops will display natural characteristics that occur during tree growth and seasoning.

These characteristics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Knots and knot holes

  • Gum veins and gum pockets

  • Pinholes or bora holes

  • Surface checking or minor splits

  • Colour and grain variation between laminations

These features are inherent to natural timber and form part of its character. They are not manufacturing defects.

Feature & Better grade benchtops may require epoxy resin filling to natural voids, gum pockets, or pinholes during the finishing process to achieve a smooth sealed surface.

Timber is a living material and will respond to its environment. Movement caused by changes in moisture, temperature, humidity, installation method, sealing, or ongoing maintenance is not considered a product fault.

Installation requirements vary depending on the end user’s application, cabinetry design, ventilation, moisture exposure, and intended use. For this reason, Rustic World Timbers does not provide installation instructions specific to individual projects.

It is the responsibility of the builder, cabinet maker, installer, or end user to ensure correct installation practices are followed, including appropriate fixing methods, allowance for timber movement, and full sealing of all faces and cut-outs.

Issues arising from incorrect installation, insufficient sealing, or unsuitable environmental conditions are not covered under warranty.

Where appearance or performance is critical, inspection prior to installation is strongly recommended.
